What leasing options are available?
We offer 12-month leases.
What is a guarantor and do I have to have one?
A guarantor is a parent, guardian, or adult that you trust who fulfills our income and credit requirements if the primary applicant does not. Please contact our office for specific requirements. You do not need a guarantor if you can financially self-qualify.
What is an individual lease? Do you offer individual leases?
We do offer individual leases! For our units that offer multiple bedrooms (like the two-bedroom), individual leasing means you are only responsible for one- not all- of the bedrooms in the unit.
Do you offer co-living?
Yes we do.
What are your application requirements?

Can I apply online?
Yes! Click "Apply Now" on our site.
How much is the security deposit and is any of it refundable?
The deposit is $200 and is refundable if the unit is left in good condition, as specified in the lease.
Is there an application fee?
There is a non-refundable application fee of $50.
Do I have to pay first & last month's rent?
No, as long as your income and credit is approved (please refer to our rental criteria). If your credit score is below our threshold then you do need to pay an additional month of rent up front.
When is rent due and how can I pay my rent? What forms of payment are acceptable?
Rent is due on the first of each month. You can pay with a check or money order in the office or with a credit card online.
Is there a late fee for overdue payments?
Yes- $35 late fees are posted on the fourth.
Are utilities included?
Yes! Water, heat, waste, electricity, trash, cable, and internet service are all included in your monthly rate.
Are there any other costs not included in the rent?
No!
Is renter's insurance required?
No.
What happens if I need to move out before my lease expires?
You will still be responsible for the contract amount. You can enter our relet process to try to find someone to replace you on the lease.
Can the apartment be listed on AirBnB or VRBO?
No.
Can the apartment be sublet?
No, but you can relet.
What are the occupancy limits?
One person per bedroom. For our single occupancy units, you are allowed to have two occupants but both must be included on the lease.
Can I request a specific apartment?
Yes, but we cannot guarantee to fulfill all requests.
Do you accept Section 8 vouchers?
No.
How long can you hold an apartment and how much is the deposit?
$200 deposit and we don't allow anyone to hold an apartment. First come first serve.
What are hours of the leasing office?
Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm.
What are the hours of the clubhouse?
24/7
What are the hours for the fitness center?
24/7
What are the hours for the business center?
24/7
What are the hours of the laundry facility?
We don't have laundry facilities - all apartments at Union at Midtown have their own machines in the unit.
What are the hours for utilizing outdoor amenities?
There are no outdoor amenities at Union at Midtown.
Do you have cable?
Yes, no separate charge.
Do you have package lockers/how do I get my packages?
We encourage all carriers to deliver packages to your unit.
Do you offer valet trash service and/or recycling?
No.
Do you have free internet/WiFi?
Yes! Each apartment has fiber-optic internet service.
Is storage included? Is additional storage available?
No storage included.
How do I reserve community amenities?
There are no amenities available for reservation.
Does this community have a pest control service?
Yes we do! We use Terminix.
Are concierge services available?
No.
Does the community have bicycle racks?
Yes - outside the front entrance
Is there laundry on-site?
Yes, in each apartment.
I have a noise complaint. Who do I contact?
We have an after-hours service you can reach at 313-989-1690.
What is the smoking policy? Can I smoke in my apartment? Is there a designated smoking area?
No smoking allowed anywhere within 50 feet of the complex.
I need emergency maintenance. Who do I call?
We have an after-hours service you can reach at 313-989-1690.
I have a non-emergency maintenance issue. Who do I contact?
We recommend contacting the office during normal business hours or placing a service request on your resident portal.
Do you allow pets? What is the pet policy?
We are a pet-free facility.
What is the parking situation? Is parking assigned? Is there a fee or permit required for parking? Is there a fee or permit required for parking?
We have 20-minute resident parking spaces for temporary use.
What decorations or changes to the apartment are prohibited?
You are not allowed to make alterations to the unit, or make any holes larger than a dime.
Are there fees for using the communal spaces?
No.
What is the procedure for moving in/out?
Please refer to the lease or contact the leasing office.
Is there public transportation nearby? What stop is closest?
There is a Q-Line stop right outside the property which will take you to Downtown Detroit. There is also a public bus stop on cass right outside the building.
How much traffic is there in the area? Are there any times during day/night that it is heavy?
No severe traffic with the exception of major events like the Thanksgiving Day Parade or Detroit Marathon.
What is the surrounding neighborhood like?
We are located on the campus of Wayne State University.
When were these apartments built? Have there been any renovations?
2011, no renovations.
What type of flooring do the apartments have?
Wood laminate and carpet
Are washers and dryers available? Are they in the apartment?
Yes. Washers and dryers are available in each unit.
Do apartments have dishwashers?
Yes.
What kind of kitchen appliances are in the apartment?
Kitchen, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer.
Are stoves gas or electric?
Gas.
Do kitchen sinks have a garbage disposal?
Yes.
